Chinese eat out of toilets.

3/06/2009 10:30:00 PM

A new toilet-themed restaurant called 'Modern Toilet' has opened in Hong Kong.

The walls are decorated with urinals; customers sit on toliets and eat from miniature toilets!

The food also resembles human waste.

Pretty tasty, huh?

The iChange - An iPhone-controlled car!

3/05/2009 08:16:00 PM

A new electric car named The 'iChange' - developed by the Swiss company Rinspeed - is a car which can be controlled using an Apple iPhone. It is an extremely light-weight car that weighs in at only 1,050 kilograms.

The car's shape can be adjusted depending on the amount of passengers.

There is one front seat and two rear seats.
If the rear seats are being used the roof expands to compensate.

This is useful is reducing energy usage, as it improves the car's aerodynamics.

Sex Story In School Paper.

3/05/2009 08:02:00 PM

Misty Wilson, mother of a high school freshman, is shocked at an article she read in her daughter's school newspaper; talking about how students have sex on campus.

She says the journalist should have thought about who would be reading it, and says it's not tasteful.

Naturally we'd have to be able to read the full article to make a good judgement, but do you think she's over-reacting?

Design your own baby!

3/04/2009 02:19:00 AM

Trait-selected babies are expected to be a reality as soon as 2010, says a Los Angeles fertility clinic.

Advanced reproductive technologies allow parents and doctors to screen embryos for genetic disorders and select healthy embryos.

But now, not only will this technology be used to just select healthy embryos, it will also be used for cosmetic reasons such as selecting the baby's hair colour, eye colour, and other traits.

Some say that this is going too far, but those are the same people that attempt to stunt the development of projects like this, only to find out it is inevitable that it will happen either way, they're just going to slow it down for people who want it - Although I doubt they'll even manage to do that much.

A lot of people seem to be jealous, because these embryos will develop into better-looking humans than they are!

But not me, because I got my brilliant looks through complete luck, so there's more skill in that, than getting them in a lab!

More information on Designer babies can be found here.

15-year-old starts 'No Cussing Week'.

3/04/2009 01:57:00 AM

15-year-old McKay Hatch from Los Angelas, has inspired the first 'No Cussing Week'.

He was sick of hearing his friends throw around 'bad' language, so he decided to take action!

He has received a lot of media coverage because of this; but also, a lot of death threats!!!

Seriously. Who would even take the time to threaten someone for something like this!?

According to his website, the week commences on the 3rd of March, and finishes on the 7th of March.

'No Cussing Week' merch is available from his website, including T-shirts ($15), wristbands, his own BOOK ($14.95), and "The Power of Positive Hugging Card" (shown below) ($10).

HA!

Seems more like a creative entrepreneur than the language police!

Programmable Matter!

3/02/2009 06:09:00 PM

The good people at Intel are currently working on one of their latest projects - Programmable Matter!

It's a putty-like substance that can be morphed into different shapes and colors freely.

Pretty neat if I do say so myself, I'd love to know what it's like to touch...

Pole Dancing Robots?

3/01/2009 05:25:00 PM

Giles Walker shows off his collection of pole dancing robots that he built from scrap materials such as windscreen wipers and electric windows motors... Cuckoo!

Note the quote from the woman at 0:29 in the video below, "I love the way things move, and it just makes you think about so much stuff".

Pretty insightful, huh?

Teen fired for her Facebook status.

3/01/2009 05:57:00 AM

Teenager Kimberly Swann was fired for changing her Facebook status to say that she was bored at work - Without even naming the company she worked for.

But what has got me pondering is, that unless her boss was added to her Facebook friends list, how else would he have known what her status read? And who on Earth adds their boss on Facebook?

And if they weren't friends on Facebook, then what was he doing snooping about on her Facebook page?

Maine's new topless café.

2/28/2009 04:24:00 PM

As I'm sure many of you may have already seen in the news, a new topless café has opened in VassalboroMaine!

Click here to read about it, and click here to see a video.

Apparently, it has caused some upset among local residents, as they see it comparable to a brothel/Prostitution ring.

Personally, I cannot see a single thing wrong with it.
Nor can one other person I have talked to about it.

I mean, they have signs outside the door that read, "Over 18 only", and they've even blocked out all of the windows.

I would have no problem if one of these opened in my town, if fact, I would be in great support of it!
It would bring employment, and make a lot of people... Happy.

These over-sensitive, bickering, imbeciles must have nothing better to do with their time than give out about something that has nothing to do with them.

America is a free country and if these people have a problem with it, then they should just stay out!

Marraige.

2/25/2009 12:45:00 AM

When I first read the title of this news story; "9-year-old bride", I thought to myself, "Wow, not another one of those perverted stories from an Eastern country!".

But it turns out that this wedding took place in Texas; so then my initial though was, "Wow, not another one of those freakish Texan stories making use of an outdated law!".

Eventually I actually clicked the link and found out that because this girl was dying of leukemia, she was having her wedding day somewhat prematurely.

Which got me thinking, "What is so good about marraige? Why is this girl using time in her last weeks to go through an ancient ritual, and receive a piece of paper declaring her bond to somebody she barely knows, and will never see again after a couple of weeks?".
[Although it's possible her parents are forcing her into it for some unbeknownst reason - But hey, it's Texas!]

Marraige is simply oudated, a waste of time, and a completely idiotic idea.
Only because it is ingrained into society that it is the correct thing to do, people believe it is the correct thing to do.

Obviously, I have no obligation to people being together or anything of the sort, but I don't believe people must have a sheet of paper to show their care and affection for one another.

Once again in reference to the news story; I understand that the 9 year old girl's parents want her to get married because she is expected to die in the forthcoming weeks, but what about the boy she is marrying?
He looks even younger than her and it didnt report that he was about to die like the girl.
So why is he doing it?
Why is he marrying somebody who is about to die?
He has his whole life ahead of him and I doubt that he had the majority say in this matter.

It makes me wonder about the state of the world.
